Project Background

A 4-star business hotel with 200 guest rooms faced challenges with its traditional air conditioning system:

  • Rooms were often too hot or too cold upon check-in, requiring manual adjustment.

  • Guests frequently forgot to turn off the AC after checkout, leading to energy waste.

  • Hotel staff could not efficiently monitor or control the status of each room’s AC unit.

To solve these issues, the hotel implemented a smart air conditioning control system to achieve both energy savings and enhanced guest experience.

System Components

  • Smart Thermostat Panels: Guests can easily set temperature, fan speed, and mode.

  • Occupancy Sensors: Detect whether the room is occupied, automatically adjusting or switching off the AC.

  • Central Management Platform: Enables hotel staff to monitor and control all AC units remotely.

  • Integration with PMS (Property Management System): Syncs with check-in and check-out processes for seamless control.

  • Smart Indoor Linkage: When a door or window is opened, the air conditioning system automatically powers off and stops operating.

Application Scenarios

  1. Welcome Mode

    • When guests enter the room, the AC automatically starts and adjusts to a comfortable preset temperature (e.g., 24°C).

    • Improves the check-in experience.

  2. Energy-Saving Mode

    • If the room is unoccupied for a certain period, the AC switches to an energy-saving setting (e.g., 27°C in summer).

    • Automatically turns off after checkout, eliminating energy waste.

  3. Sleep Mode

    • At night, the AC automatically lowers fan speed and switches to silent operation.

    • Ensures a comfortable sleep environment while saving energy.

  4. Centralized Management

    • The hotel’s control center can monitor real-time AC usage in every room.

    • Abnormalities (e.g., equipment faults) can be quickly identified and resolved.

Implementation Results

  • Energy Savings: Reduced AC energy consumption by 25%–35%.

  • Enhanced Guest Experience: Guests reported greater comfort without needing frequent manual adjustments.

  • Operational Efficiency: Staff can manage AC units remotely, reducing manual inspections.

  • Brand Upgrade: The hotel’s smart technology adoption strengthened its competitive edge and market image.
